For a number of years I’d had an issue with rain coming in around two upstairs chimney breasts of my Victorian house. I’d had two other roofers look at this and complete remedial works including repointing and fitting new chimney cowls, unfortunately this did not solve the problem. We decided to fit a wood burning stove to help keep the chimney dry and as we had scaffolding on the building I was recommended to contact Ollie. I’m so glad I did. Ollie identified an issue with the ridge tiles leading down to the stack. These hadn’t been fitted correctly when the roof was replaced some years back. I could see that there was a weakness in the way that they had been jointed with too small a section at the top which had come away. Ollie sourced two matching tiles from a reclamation yard and suggested fitting two shorter ridge tiles rather than one full and one small piece. I was impressed with his attention to a detail like this, as it is the kind of thing that could easily be missed and can clearly make the world of difference. Ollie checked and made a small repair on the flashing around the chimney stack. He cleaned away all the moss on the stack and reflaunched the top. He also repointed a section of the brickwork and added weather seal to the stack for good measure. Ollie kept me informed of everything he was doing and explained everything to me in an understandable way. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He filled me with confidence with everything that he undertook. As well as undertaking the agreed works at an agreed price, he also kindly checked my gutters and made some repairs at no extra charge. I have given it six months before writing a review and I am delighted to report, that despite very heavy rainfall, we have not had a single issue with rain ingress. The walls are now dry and I am finally able to redecorate. There wasn’t anything wrong with what the previous roofers had done per se, but old houses are tricky and it takes a good eye to notice those little things that can ultimately make all the difference. Well done Ollie, your lovely friendly manner, enthusiasm, skill, attention to detail and hard work ethic makes it a no brainer for me to continue to recommend you and your company
